Which is weird because from fans online, I saw the biggest complaint was that it was too short. I personally felt levels went on for too long that I put on a podcast while playing. The biggest negative I have is the actual gameplay itself. Personally, I wasn't fond of needing to find all 27 of each to unlock a character. But in order to unlock Patrick or Plankton you gotta find these collectibles called Sleepy Seeds scattered throughout the game. Add to it some pretty good humour and writing and it is certainly entertaining.Īlso, the last level lets you play as either Spongebob, Patrick or Plankton and you get a different ending depending on who you pick. And Plankton's has him escaping from a giant Krabby Patty and becoming a giant monster in a B Movie like level. Patrick's Dream has him be a superhero in a classic comic book series, flying around on a rocket ship in space and fighting a giant Plankton. For example, Spongebob's dream takes him on a grotesque Hot Rod Racing world, in an Alaskan Bull Worm and flying to escape from a giant Plankton. The plot is about the dreams of Spongebob, Plankton and Patrick that create some interesting scenarios. I played a lot of the PS2 version when I was a kid and recently finished the Gamecube version.ĬFTKK's biggest strength is its variety. The only thing this game has going for it, is that some of the original voice actors were in it.SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab is a platformer released for PC, GameCube, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and Wii by THQ. Again all of these gameplay mechanics are so half baked, none of them actually felt fun. As you’re forced to move as fast as possible to run away from a burger that wants to eat your face, while constantly turning around to freeze it in place. But traveling through the Alaskan Bull Worm, they take 30 minutes, and there’s a handful of them.Įven when I finally got to play as Plankton, I didn’t get to enjoy the look of the levels, or the design. Like when you’re flying through space on Patrick’s rocket, the levels take 5 minutes to clear. Either they last only a handful of minutes, or they take 20-30 minutes to clear. The length of the levels are also just too long or too short. Who thought it would be a good idea to constantly remind the players of this stuff, as if they’re all complete idiots!? Which I eventually did, after the 10th time of seeing how to use Spongebob’s arms to swing myself across chasms on anchors. Unless you turn off the tutorials in the options. It doesn’t help that the game is constantly reminding you how to do every single thing, all the time. Even the jumps are sometimes so spaced out that you’ll just BARELY make them, and if you miss you then have to run back around and try the jump again. Any time an enemy shows up, all you do is mash the B button to slap them, and chances are you’ll barely ever get hit. Then if you’re not doing that, you’re running through levels, from point A to point B, with no real challenge. This is done so many times throughout the game too. You’re just doing laps, trying to make it around the track before the time runs out. Like for a good portion of the opening hour, you’re put onto a race track, where you’re not actually racing anyone. The game itself, just like the story, is a mish mash of gameplay elements, where nothing feels like any soul was actually put into it. Like the developers pinned up ideas onto a giant corkboard, blindfolded themselves, and then threw darts at it, then rolled with whatever the heck it landed on. Needless to say the story ends up being a boring and uneventful mish mash of crap. Then Plankton has to run away from a giant Krabby Patty that he made large, trying to get the formula for himself…while also making himself the size of a normal fish. Or Patrick gets to be a superhero, and save Bikini Bottom from….himself. Like Spongebob having his driver’s license and for some reason dreams that he’s a race car driver. Until then it’s just a mash of self contained stories. At least not until you get to about 2/3rds of the way through the game. The story itself makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. From the city to the inside of an Alaskan Bull Worm! Does it make any sense? No, of course not! You somehow explore a ton of different worlds in this awkward dream landscape. Have you ever had a dream, where so many people are in it, you wake up and wonder if they had the same dream? Well when Spongebob, Patrick, and Plankton are all sleeping peacefully, this is exactly what’s happening. While WayForward developed the Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS versions. Blitz Games developed the PS2, GameCube and the Wii version. Spongebob SquarePants: Creature From The Krusty Krab is a 3D platformer that was developed for a plethora of systems.
